For the last part of the parallel section, we will add a bidirectional component (the second line of switches). We will use the first four switches to display the value of the last four.

  1. Add a PIO component with SOPC Builder, select Quartus for the pin assignment and generate

  3. Load the fpga with the new configuration (assign the pin, comile, etc., just like the other times!)

  5. Change your NIOS II IDE project to have the first half of the switches printing their values on the second half. Run and verify your program
